Springfield Art Association to Hold 85th Beaux Arts Ball Saturday

Saturday, November 26, 2016, is the 85th Beaux Arts Ball themed “Le Bal de L’artiste”.  The event, which begins at 5.30pm at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, raises operating expense funds and celebrates the families and volunteers that support the Springfield Art Association (SAA) by offering their time and talents.

Proceeds help serve 100,000-plus in Sangamon County areas with outreach programs, classes, lectures, camps, and special events. SAA’s most recent addition – M.G. Nelson Family Gallery – features exhibits from local, national, and international artists.

This year the SAA is introducing the golden palette awards to recognize SAA volunteers. The categories will include outstanding SAA art educator (Jean Kirchner), outstanding Edwards Place volunteer (Pam Van Alstine), outstanding community art educator (Cindy Huffman - Springfield High School), and outstanding SAA youth volunteer (Angel Schmitt).

The Beaux Arts Ball includes a dinner, silent auction, a $100 golden ticket opportunity and jewels on ice by Denny Jewelers.

Dancing tickets, featuring music by Brooke Thomas and the Blue Suns, can be purchased at the door starting at 9pm for $5.
