Rotary Club of Springfield South launches 31st citrus fruit fundraiser

Rotary Club of Springfield South has been selling citrus since 1985 to raise funds for local not-for-profits throughout the Springfield community for the past 31 years. The group has donated $500,000 to organizations and programs through its citrus fundraiser, other fundraising activities and member contributions.

Citrus fruit chair, Carl Affrunti, said in the past 31 years the group has sold more than 41,000 cases of fruit.

“The citrus fruit, from Indian River District, Florida, is a great item to purchase as a donation to your favorite charity as well as providing you and your family with fresh fruit that will last you several weeks if stored properly,” he said.

You can purchase oranges or grapefruit. Each case contains 40lbs of fruit. Each full case is $44 or $22 for a half a case.

You can purchase your fruit from October 20 to November 17. Pick up will be December 9 and 10 at Lee/O’Keefe Insurance Agency, 2501 Chatham Road, Springfield IL 62704.
