What time does your alarm go off?
What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
Coffee, always coffee. Then I let the dog outside.
What do you do for lunch; eat in, out, go to the gym, meetings or work through?
Sometimes I’ll eat in our break room, other times I’ll go home and let the dog out and eat at home. But if it’s a crazy day, I’ll skip lunch altogether.
What are your work hours?
6am until 3pm.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I get to host my own TV show! I meet lots of people every day, I enjoy hearing their stories and learning about what makes people passionate about the work they do.
What do you least like about your job?
The 4am alarm.
What do you do to develop relationships with potential interviewees/guests for the show?
I have an awesome network of PR professionals (in and outside of Springfield) that pitch story ideas to me. I also watch other shows to see what they’re doing. When I moved to Springfield from St. Louis in 2015, I only had one or two local contacts here—but that quickly changed. Now, people contact me all the time to be on the show. It’s a good feeling.
Which organizations are you a member of/volunteer for?
I’m passionate about helping animals. I volunteer with American Eskimo Rescue of St. Louis, it’s the group where I adopted my rescue, Peyton. I travel back to St. Louis and help with adoption events on the weekend. I helped judge our Halloween costume contest for the dogs and each year, when we do our pet photos with Santa, I work with the dogs in taking their photos. In addition, I manage the group’s Twitter page @eskiedog1. I love getting the word out about our rescues that find their forever homes.
What is the first thing you do when you get home?
I get lots of hugs and kisses from Peyton. And change clothes. I love being casual when I’m away from work. Jeans, sweatpants, t-shirts and tennis shoes.
What’s the last thing you do before you go to sleep?
I take off all my makeup. And I always pray.
