Always on the lookout for fresh home décor ideas or that perfect baby or bridal gift? Then check out Rebecca Knobloch’s new gift and boutique store. Eighteen21.com spoke with the 29-year-old wife, mother of a two-month-old boy, and business owner to learn more about what inspired her to open this unique little shop.
Kennedy Sue Gift & Home, which opened its doors on August 1st, is located on the west side of Springfield, IL. Although Rebecca initially went to college and pursued a pharmaceutical sales career, she ultimately decided to give it all up and follow her passion for interior decorating, combining her sales and business background to open a boutique.
“There were so many items I was buying for my own home, which couldn’t be found here in Springfield, that I knew there must be others like me that would love to have these available right on their doorstep so I created Kennedy Sue.”
Rebecca’s vision was to create a place where people could shop for beautiful home décor, as well as great, one-of-a-kind gifts for friends and family. Kennedy Sue Gift & Home, which gets its name from two very important women in Rebecca’s life – Kennedy, after her maternal grandmother’s maiden name and Sue, after her mother – carries a variety of merchandise from vases, lamps, candles, rugs, and seasonal items to wedding, baby shower, and birthday gifts. And, while Rebecca may be the one calling the shots, she is surrounded by a tightly knit support system. “My mother Susan is my store designer with a wonderful eye for displays. She and my father, Dale, are in the store with me a lot. He’s our “handyman” and helps bring our design visions to life, while my husband, in-laws, aunt, and dear friends generously donate their time as well.”
Rebecca says she’s just getting started, but the fun part is that the store ever changing. “New products come in weekly so you will always see something different.”
Hours: open from Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 6pm and on Saturday from 10am to 5pm.
