Cocktail of the month: Death of a Barman

This month Andrew of Floyd’s Thirst Parlor has prepared for us a hair-of-the-dog hangover cure in concept … since most of will have ‘over-indulged’ during the past weeks! Enjoy.

January is a difficult month in which to build a themed cocktail.  Andrew's tongue-in-cheek idea was to riff on the old Corpse Reviver tradition in cocktails, which were hair-of-the-dog hangover cures in concept, since – by January – many have already celebrated with enough cocktails and might be a little rough around the edges by the time the new year rolls in.  This variation on a Corpse Reviver #2 uses a pear brandy in place of Lillet, as well as a little extra Absinthe.

 


Death of a Barman

 1.25 oz. Beefeater 24 gin

0.75 oz. St. George Pear Brandy

0.25 oz. Luxardo Triplum triple sec

0.25 oz. lemon juice

Five dashes Absinthe

Add all ingredients to a mixing glass with ice and stir thoroughly. Strain the mixture into a chilled Nick & Nora glass and garnish with a lemon peel.
